Amy would not leave Dylon’s side after his surgery. He was laid up for a week and she stayed by his side the entire time. Her favorite place is laying on Dylon…but I did finally get her to lay beside him. She has her own little couch and I finally moved over by him…but if he made any noise she was up and checking on him. Dyl and Amy love to play fetch and tug-a-war. She will bring the ball or chew rope over to him when she wants to play. To tell a funny story on them…Dyl was tired so he laid down and put the chew rope under him…Amy couldn’t get to it so she sat on his face…that was a good laugh for hours… The bond between the two is very strong. I am so happy that we have Amy in our family. She is very smart and her personality is just a joy to be around. She still likes to chew up my flip-flops…but I needed new ones anyways…lol. Thank you so much for Amy.

Shiloh's Happy Tail
Shiloh was adopted May 11, 2011. I went ahead and kept his name Shiloh because it’s cute like him. Shiloh is one of the happiest puppies I have ever seen (doesn’t help that he is spoiled rotten)!! He now has two big brothers that he absolutely loves to be with, Billie and Snookz. Shiloh loves to ride in the car, is leash trained, potty trained, sits, responds to his name, plays fetch … Just a very beautiful and intelligent pup!! His mommy loves him very much and couldn’t ask for a better dog : )

Oscar's Happy Tail
Five years ago we lost our dog, Lucy and said we would not get another one! That thought lasted two weeks. SPCA was having a debut at the Enid mall and we decided to go. We agreed that we would NOT get a dog that sheds, for sure. Well, the first sight of Oscar, a 2 ½ year old shorty Jack Russell, was him running through a large empty store with the sun shining down and he was BLOWING HAIR big time! They had just given him a bath and that’s what happens when you give him a bath. We sat and talked to them and Oscar for an hour . We enjoyed him so much. We left and thought about it overnight. The next day when we called to see if he was still available they said “Oh we were hoping you would call.” And he has been the BEST dog ever and our FIRST indoor dog ever. He goes rollerblading with us and takes walks with us, which we need desperately! We never imagined how much fun and how much joy Oscar would give. And we don’t care about him shedding hair!
THANKS for all you do, Enid SPCA!

Luna's Happy Tail
Hello friends at the Enid SPCA. I just wanted to send you guys some photos of the canine formerly known as "Cinderella." Cinderella now goes by the name of Luna as is she is the shining moon in our night sky. When we first took Luna home, we could not fathom back then the impact she would have on our lives. This pup took our hearts and ran. She has come such a long way since we first brought her home and is thriving, happy and healthy. Being first time dog owners, and adopting this pup with a "history" has been challenging at times yet the rewards have been exponential. EVERYONE who meets here loves her, since she is a doll. She regularly visits the dog park and has many canine buddies to play with. Her feline sisters were not so thrilled with her arrival initially, but are warming up to her slowly but surely. She loves her kitty sisters and lets them do the own thing until they are ready to come around. We completed basic obedience school in February and are getting 1000 times better at walking on a leash, as we suspect she had never been accustomed to walking politely with humans in her past life. She recently took her first road trip to Carlsbad, NM to meet her human grandparents and uncle which was great. Luna has become a vital part of our little family and we realize the reason God brought us to Oklahoma was to pick up the missing member of our "pack." She is the love of our lives and now I understand what was meant on the bumper sticker that says, "Who rescued who?" I just want to sincerely thank you guys for everything you do and thank you for caring for this amazing girl, when she had no one else.
Joy's Happy Tail
Thank you for Joy. She has been a real joy to all of us! I am sending some pictures.

Bevo's Happy Tail
We adopted Bevo, formerly Bosco in December of 2010. We changed his name to fit our family of Texas alumni and fans. He was pretty shy the first 3 weeks, however he has opened up since and become very happy with his new home. He got his new car seat (picture attached) so that he could see out the window when his daddy takes him to the dog park, on rides around town and he has made several trips out of town to visit family. We can't thank Enid SPCA enough for allowing us to adopt Bevo. He has filled all the voids we felt after losing our family pet of 17 years.
Sincerely, Norman and Kay
Scotch and Princess Pitty Sing's Happy Tail
SPCA staff,
I've intended to send you our "Happy Tail" for quite sometime now, and I've decided to take advantage of the snow day and email you.
We adopted "Pedro", now "Scotch" a year ago last Christmas. He was a tiny kitten then, and he has grown into a handsome, loving lap kitty. He has tons of personality! He uses his charm to get treats, and it is very difficult to say no to him. He is a big baby who wants to be on a lap, or curled up in a warm bed to cuddle. We can't imagine not having his loving presence in our home. I've sent two photos of him, one taken shortly after he came home with us, and a more recent one. He has grown quite a bit in a year!
Our other kitty we adopted in May of last year was named "Angel" there, and we named her Princess Pitty Sing. She was over a year old when she came home with us, and immediately took her place as queen in our home. Her sweet face and soft meow never failed to brighten my day. She didn't care to be held much, but when she decided to curl up on my lap it was always a pleasant surprise. She loved stickers and price tags, and would transport and deposit them into the closest water bowl she could find. She loved water. The first place we would look for her was the shower, and when she heard the water running, she would demand to be let in the bathroom so she could peek in the shower!
Princess became ill in December, and we found out she was born with a kidney problem. After every attempt to heal her, we lost our baby this January. Although we didn't have her very long, we have never regretted adopting her, and feel blessed for having her in our lives. Although this "tail" doesn't seem to have a happy ending, we loved Princess very much and miss her greatly. Her first name, "Angel" was very befitting to her. I wrote a little poem to keep with her photo, and I hope anyone who loses a pet could find comfort reading it.
May you curl up
in God’s lap
lie in a window that
always faces the sun
chase and bat
at angel’s wings
may you greet
all who come
through Heaven’s door

Jack's Happy Tail
The day I wondered into your facility I was still morning him (Bubba) somewhat but knew I had to move on. I looked at all the black cats you had as well as a few others that caught my eye, and then traveled to the back of the building and saw a few. I then happened upon a 6 year old cat that I was told had been there a long time and that his age might have something to do with it. I watched him for a bit, petted him, and looked deep into his beautiful blueish green eyes. He almost appeared to be smiling. I liked something about him as soon as he started to purrrrr. After a short period of spending some time petting a lot of your cats I just couldn't make up my mind and decided to go home and think about it. I could not get Jack off of my mind. For several nights I tossed and turned thinking about whether or not I was ready for another cat to take the place of Bubba and another black cat to boot; however, I love black cats as they seem to be evenly tempered. The next day I had made up my mind and none of the felines in your facility caught my attention the way that Jack did with those beautiful blueish green eyes and his purrrrrrrr. The day I came to get him was interesting as when we got home he quickly made friends with my other cat Snickers and settled in as if he had been here all of his life.
The first few weeks were a battle back and forth over who could be in my arms or on my bed with me but finally they both quieted down. I had Jack's front claws removed as he started clawing up my couch and a bad tooth looked at, but other than that he is a sweet, loving, cat who is always right beside me if Snickers is no where to be found. Snickers is the matriarch of the household and occasionally establishes or reinforces that to Jack even though it doesn't really seem to sway Jack one way or the other. He is a wonderful cat and I have grown very attached to him.
Because you called and checked up on him several times after I adopted him, I thought that I would relay this information to put your minds at ease as Jack is very happy, well adjusted and adorable and will have a home with me and Snickers as long as he is alive. I have sent a few photos of him that were taken last week that I thought you might enjoy and have included a picture of his partner in crime Snickers (Calico).

Roxie's Happy Tail
Hi,
I just realized that I had never written a "Happy Tails" for Rosie, now named Roxie, that I adopted April 20, 2010. Below is a letter to you from Roxie telling how she is doing and how she has grown. She has adjusted beautifully and is a joy to have. She has a sweet disposition and other than carrying off shoes, she does not chew them, just relocates them, we enjoy her so much. Thanks for allowing me to come get her in April, she helped me through the grieving of losing my other dog "Sadie." Hope your holidays were filled with love and joy.

Tootsie's Happy Tail
Just a note to let you know that Tootsie is doing great!! We've not had a pet with such a wonderful personality, we've had lots of company of late and she likes everyone and everyone enjoys her company. I can hardly believe that the half cup of food daily could make a cat grow like she has. She likes to go outside when we are out but if we come back indoors for a moment, she is immediately climbing the screen to come in. We have a dog and they get along fine. I feel sorry for the individual who had to give her up, but oooh so glad we adopted her.

Rowdy's Happy Tail
This is Rowdy (formerly Kang) the newest member of our family! We adopted Rowdy in March of this year from the Enid SPCA. I wanted to let you know what an absolutely wonderful addition to our family he has been. From the beginning he has claimed Randy, my husband as his own. The moment Randy comes home from work Rowdy demands his full attention. He follows him where ever he goes and the moment he sits down, Rowdy is in his lap ready for Randy to pet him and play with him. He is affectionate to both of us but Randy is who he truly prefers. He will come sit in my lap if I call him, but he never initiates it on his own. We have an older cat, Star, who is 13 years old, and she is very attached to me. She spends most of her time in my lap, follows me from room to room and sleeps at the foot of the bed on my side, so Randy was delighted and a little surprised that Rowdy took such a shine to him. He thought I was the cat person in the family! Rowdy would like Star to be more playful and tries to entice her into games of chase or playing with the cat toys but Star doesn't have the energy Rowdy has. They get along well though and sleep together at the foot of the bed now, Star on my side, Rowdy on Randy's side. Since Star is too old to be much of a playmate, Randy got elected by Rowdy for that duty! He likes to sit in the windowsill behind the curtains and sneak up to the back of the couch behind Randy. He bats Randy's ear with his tail and that is his signal its time to play! He loves chasing a stuffed mouse on a ribbon, or anything else for that matter. Sometimes he will be sitting in Randy's lap, quietly getting petted, and he suddenly jumps up, races to the bedroom, then races back to Randy's lap at full speed. We thoroughly enjoy his antics and he has been such a delight. I never dreamed he would become so much "Randy's cat" but that is what he is. Randy is thrilled that Rowdy has chosen him and often teases me about Rowdy preferring him. We are looking forward to many long years with Rowdy in our lives and want to thank the Enid SPCA for allowing us to adopt him.
Sincerely,
Jonnie Swinea

Phoebe's Happy Tail
Hi! My name is Alycia Lima and I adopted Phoebe Hope 2 months ago. I'm a student at OU and Phoebe lives with me and my three other roommates in our house. In addition to her, we have a kitten (Marley) and a chinchilla (Chinchie). Phoebe was a rescue dog and had an unfortunate past history. Her rescue story was in the Enid News & Eagle this past summer. I gave her the middle name "Hope" for more than the fact that she simply is a puppy full of hope. One of my favorite symbols is an anchor, which stands for hope. Phoebe has definitely become one of my best friends. She is full of energy and always gives me something to do. She has many dog friends and loves on anybody and everybody she meets. Phoebe lives for road trips! This past weekend we actually drove nine hours to St. Louis. She was in heaven. Phoebe loves to be pampered, and especially loves to get her hair and nails done. Her favorite color is of course pink. She is quite the prissy pup; she has adopted the nickname Princess Phoebe. She strongly dislikes getting her paws wet and is extremely scared of rain. One of our favorite pastimes is to go on jogs and to play with the tennis ball. Phoebe has become very good at walking on her hind legs to get her favorite treats. I am so thankful that she was safely rescued and found her home with me. Thank you to the SPCA from the bottom of my heart <3
PS I have pictures that will be sent within the next few days!
You can read more about Phoebe's story on our Rescue Puppies Page. She is a real success story.

Tank's Happy Tail
Hello
We are the family that took Tank home. He is working out wonderfully with our family. He has settled down a bit and that is good; he needed to. My boys are 43 (hubby), 21, 19 and 10 yrs old. They all play with the dogs a lot. I would say that my youngest plays the most because others are at school or working sometimes. The dogs really benefit from this. The older boys will wrestle pretty hard with Tank and he loves it. They actually wear him out sometimes (if you can believe that). They also sometimes go for walks. I think he is very happy. He LOVES to be outside and we had to find a way to do this for him. He sits on a rug instead of the grass cause sometimes, it may be wet. He doesn’t always stay on it which is fine. Thank you for allowing us to adopt him, we have all fallen in love with him.
Sincerely
Theresa Peterson

Jack's Happy Tail
Hello,
My family and I adpoted Jack back in September from the adopt a pet month at Atwoods. He was under weight by 13 lbs. when we first got him. He is now a healthy, active, full of life dog. We LOVE him so much, and he just adores our children. He will let them lay on him and he'll even sometimes takes naps with our 3 year old daughter. :) He enjoys going for walks, playing at the dog park, and he'll even play catch for hours. He is the BEST dog we have ever had. We are very thankful we were able to adopt him. Thanks so much. ~ The Peace Family

Maggie Rose's Happy Tail
I picked up Moxie from my friend in Norman about 12:30pm on Saturday. Moxie and I got to know each other on the long drive home. Her name is now Maggie Rose, and she is quite the diva! She has had a haircut and is learning the ropes at our house from the other three dogs. She is quite the character and keeps us laughing. She is doing very well with her housebreaking and likes going in her crate (there are good treats in the crate). She is running outside with my dogs now, but hasn't picked up on the art of chasing squirrels just yet. She is quite the snuggler and follows me all over the house. She has chewed the plug off my hair straightener, but it can be repaired. She is a joy and I just wanted to let you know she is having a blast!

Abby's Happy Tail
My Husband and I adopted Portia (renamed Abby), around August 10th and she has been such a joy! I get so excited when I come home from work and she is so excited to see me. My husband often teases me that I greet her more enthusiastically than him. We are crate training her and that is working out really good. Occasionally, I will let her sleep with us at night because she is so warm and loves to cuddle up to us. She hops around the backyard like a rabbit and we get such a kick out of watching her! She hardly ever barks, except when she is trying to get the cat to jump off the table to play with her,so when she does it's hard to tell her no, because she sounds so cute! I've included a couple of pictures that we took the first week we had her home and then some current ones. I think I am a little biased about her because I included a lot of pictures. Hope you all enjoy them.

Josie's Happy Tail
Hi, I'm Josie. My mom adopted me in July '10 and I'm LOVING my new home. I have 2 older brothers, Duke and Prints, and they really take care of me...except when Duke tattletails on me for going potty in the house ;(...we play all the time in our big yard, lounge around on the couch, and sleep in moms bed...actually, we take up the whole thing...but it's ok..she doesn't seem to mind. I'm eating really well...I weigh in at a whopping 8 pounds now...I almost weigh as much as my brothers, I'll get there some day. I went to the vet and I am totally healthy...but I'm still a little scared of being abandoned...so it was traumatic for me.
I have alot of toys..and I tear them up every chance I get. I'm looking forward to Christmas...I can't wait to see what mom gets me....
Ok, so I sent some pictures along so you can see me at my best...I'll email again to let you know if I hit the big 1-0 (pounds that is).
Love, Josie

Stella's Happy Tail
Hi, we adopted Stella about 5 months ago. She is amazing, we could not have been happier. She is so gentle with our children (3 & 1) and has never attempted to be anything but loving to them! She was so scared when we first got her and we loved on her until she came to know this is the only family she will ever have- this is her home. She plays well with other dogs now and is now very protective of myself and my children which is very good since my husband works a lot.
She does very well inside but we have noticed she is sometimes reluctant to come in the house since she has such a big yard to play in and she prefers sleeping outside on nice nights! We are thinking we may want to adopt another big dog about the same size, we want her to have a play mate her size. Stella is the best dog we could have asked for, she is super smart and already knows quite a few tricks. She can sit, roll over, come to her name, and gives kisses & she is just all around the best fit for our family! She loves to go on walks with me and she walks very well beside my stroller (it was the hardest thing to teach her!) and now we will walk about 2 miles and she loves it!
I am so thankful that we were able to bring her home the day we met her, she is everything we wanted & I honestly can't imagine not having her. Our youngest daughter screams Ella! and Stella comes running. I once caught our oldest daughter taking a nap on Stella, they were cuddled up with a blanket! They love her so much! THANK YOU all for what you do because these dogs need a 2nd chance!
She is truly a blessing to our family. You will never know how much she means to us. She is more than words can express and no one can believe that we got her from a shelter since she is so loving and gentle. Thank you again!
Sincerely, Erin

Jada's Happy Tail
I adopted Jada about a month after my Pom Morgan died. I wanted a dog that looked and acted totally different than Morgan; and boy did I ever get it!!! Jada is a bundle of energy, almost always on the go and wanting to play. I was worried about how she would interact with our other dog; a male Mini American Eskimo; but they are the best of friends!! He is 8 years old and she gets him to run around the yard with her like they are both young puppies!!! I love seeing that!!
Jada loves everyone she meets! She is a very loving dog and loves to give kisses. We cuddle together on the couch in the afternoons for a nap. She like to lay her head on my neck, or at least as close to it as she can get.
Jada is a wonderful addition to our family!!!! We all love her so much!!!
Thank-you
Katrina

Stella's Happy Tail
Hello,
Stella has been home for about a month now, and we couldn't be happier with her. She gets along great with her new brothers Sam and Moe. She is really beginning to form her personality- and is quite the little Princess! She loves sleeping in bed with us at night- and knows what comes out of that treat jar now! She is a joy- and always keeps us laughing! Since we are an Air Force family- she is soon going to be a traveling pup! Who knows where we will go next! Here are a few pictures of her and her brother Sam! Thank You, Enid SPCA, for letting us adopt her into our family!
Cheers,
Dallas, Megan, Sam,
Stella and Moe Wright
Harley's Happy Tail
Hello my name is Harley! I am sure you remember me because I am just too sweet to forget. My family adopted me in May of 2010. I have a brother and sister to play with every day and we are the best of friends. I like to hide my bowl in a new place every day so my family has to go on scavenger hunts just to feed me and I love burying all of my snacks. I have really personalized my yard, I enjoy lying under the bushes and in the mud, digging holes, walking through the neighborhood, helping Dad with BBQ’s and chasing frogs. I am sending you a few pictures to show you how much I have grown and just how perfectly I fit in with my family! My pictures include: The first week I was home; another day at the park; cuddling with Mommy; and hanging out in my yard. I love kissing!
Buster and Brando's Happy Tail
Hello,
We adopted Handsome Dan in July, and then Ludo soon after. We changed their names to Buster and Brando. They have made wonderful additions to our family. As you can see, it didn't take them long to make themselves at home. They are both full of energy, and they love to run and play. We have a 5 year old son with special needs, and both dogs are very gentle and careful with him. It was a pleasure visiting the Enid SPCA. We're happy to be able to provide a loving home to these two lovable dogs.

Franklin's Happy Tail
Franklin (aka "Frankie" and "The Frankster") and I had a great trip back to Nevada. He is a well mannered dog who loves to ride in vehicles. He rode in the front seat all the way and was so laid back I did not feel the need to kennel him. When he needed to relieve himself he would put his paw on my shoulder and talk to me. This was my signal to stop and walk him. His previous owners should be given kudos for their training of him. He is a very loving, friendly and intelligent Sammy.
He has adjusted well to his new family and seems to be working overtime to please us. His pleasant personality is perfect for our household. His female companion is Samantha. She looks a lot like Maggy his previous companion. Samantha has never been a snuggler and has more of an aloof personality. When she saw how much loving and attention he was getting she could not stand it and began to demand more attention from us. This is a win / win for both dogs as well as my wife and I.
When I got back to Nevada I went to our local vet to schedule Franklin for a wellness examination. Unfortunately, our vet of ten years had passed away. Our groomer recommend another vet and Franklin was given a wellness exam. During the exam the vet discovered a bad tooth. The tooth has been removed and his teeth have been cleaned. No other health issues were discovered.
Franklin has learned to love his grooming appointments. During his first few appointments he was unsure and nervous about being left in a strange environment with other dogs. He has come to realize this is special attention and that we will always be back to pick him up. We like to groom our dogs every four or five weeks as they are mostly inside dogs.
Franklin likes to be with us and will stay with us on the bed until we fall asleep. When he thinks we are asleep he will get off and sleep next to Samantha until morning. We have found that feeding him smaller meals twice a day works better for him and eliminates a lot of his "talking". When he "talks" to us now it is usually a potty request or an attempt to wrest attention from Samantha. This procedure also helps with his propensity to consume unsupervised food. (Every Sammy we have owned has had this tendency.)
Thank you for coming into the shelter on your day off so I could leave for Nevada before the tornado hit. I very much appreciate this accomdation.

Dee Dee's Happy Tail
This is Dee Dee (or Princess Dee). We adopted her in January of 2010. She has been a blessing to our family and we couldn't imagine life without her now. She is very spoiled, but we wouldn't have it any other way... she deserves it!
Our thanks to the SPCA for helping us bring this loving dog home.

Romeo's Happy Tail
Hi my name is Romeo! I'm sure you remember me; my different colored eyes are hard to forget!!:) My family adopted me about a 1 1/2 ago and I have loved every minute of it! I am sending you a few pictures to show you how big and beautiful I have gotten. One picture is of the day I arrived at my new home. I now live in South Carolina, it was a really long drive. Although I miss my brothers, I have so much fun playing chase through the house, playing with my catnip mouse and my catnip scratcher and I am sure they got to go to wonderful new loving homes as well. Thank you for caring for me during my surgery and the time before my family found me. Everyone who meets me falls in love and wants to take me home.... guess that's why they call me Romeo.

Andrew's Happy Tail
My girlfriend got me Andrew for my birthday a year ago in May and he is one of the best presents I have ever received. He is a very loving cat, and loves to sit in my lap. As you can see in the photos he also loves his treats, thank you Enid SPCA.

Jango's Happy Tail
Jango (rhymes with Rain go) aka Senor Fuzz when he was at the SPCA. On a recent vet visit he weighed 45 pounds. He's doing well with our other dog...likes to wrestle and chew on things. He still eats like a piggy. We've taught him to sit and stay, and he will even sit and wait for a treat instead of jumping up for it now. Jango does great on the leash and seems to be a very happy dog, who likes to flop in front of people to get his belly rubbed!!
Thanks

Mr. Buttons' Happy Tail
I adopted a Yorkie from Enid SPCA a few months ago. I was so excited when I first saw "Mr. Buttons". I am so blessed to have him in my life. When I brought him home he was so thin and scared. He apparently had been homeless for some time. He is now healthy and happy and I love him very much. We have another dog that we rescued as well, her name is Kai-Lan..she and Mr. Buttons are so loving towards one another. He is a wonderful addition to our family! Every morning before I head out to work he sets outside my bedroom door to wait for me and every evening after I arrive home from work he's right there at the front door waiting for me. Thank you so much Enid SPCA!!

Fiona's Happy Tail
Just wanted to give you an update on our Fiona that we adopted in April.
She is doing wonderful, her personality has changed so much now that she knows she is here to stay with us. Fiona is very calm and has her favorite spot in the house where she loves to hang out and sleep. She is a great addition to our family and we are enjoying her immensely.
Thanks

Minnie's Happy Tail
I picked Minnie out right away as the perfect addition to our new home in Enid. She was so pretty and sweet and had such a tiny voice. On the ride home she howled so loudly that I thought maybe I had been given the wrong cat. She spent the first few hours home hiding under the couch but she soon came to trust us and her new home. She enjoys playing with dangling things, balls and, her favorite, any bug she is so fortunate to find.
Minnie is a cuddler. She will sometimes come and remind me that I need to spend more time with her. I lie on the floor and she settles in on my belly and we have a good cuddle. Sometimes she naps and sometimes I do too. All is right with the world.
I take Minnie outside on a leash on the back porch when the weather is good. She usually wants to stay on my lap but seems to get a kick out of the birds that come over to scold at her.
Thanks for letting us bring Minnie home.

Herbie's Happy Tail
Dear SPCA,
We adopted Herbie May 3, 2010. He has been a WONDERFUL addition to our family. He is loving, playful, and purrrrfect! We are so blessed to have found such a great pet.
THANK YOU,
The Herrera Family
Molly's Happy Tail
Well, we adopted a very over weight Pug named Molly. She now is a healthy weight 24.6 pounds. That is a great improvement from 30.3 pounds when we first adopted her, but her strict diet made her lose the pounds. Molly is well behaved. She knows to go outside to go potty not in the house. She knows not to run away and keep close. Molly's favorite thing is walks. You can just say "Molly wanna go for a walk?" and she just starts barking and jumping. There are some strange things about molly. Molly loves carrots and apples!
Jasper's Happy Tail
Dear S.P.C.A. Enid,
I adopted a cat named Socks for my husband for Christmas, because his beloved Jake (tiger striped yellow cat) vanished on Dec. 3rd, 2009. Jake weighed 16 lbs when he disappeared (not fat, just big). Amazingly 4 months later and seven miles away a 10 lb. Jake found someone he knew who also knew him, and he was returned. He had been gone over the coldest months of winter. We own a small business and Jake was and is a celebrity here. Anyway, Socks (now known as Jasper) had settled in very nicely, and we love him dearly. We already had a smaller female (Josie) so now we have one big happy family. Jake is an extremely tolerant cat, and Jasper was a little shy of him for awhile, but now they all play together nicely. Yes, they are all altered, and we are thrilled beyond words to have all three of them. I am sending pics of Jasper.
Perkins' Happy Tail
In November of 2009 we adopted four and a half month old Perkins (Or Scooter, as he was known then). We saw him online and couldn't wait to get him (we had to wait through the quarantine period). At first our children were afraid of him because of his exuberance and because he was the first family pet that we've had; but it didn't take long for them to warm up to Perkins and want to play with him all the time. He's a sweet loving little dog, friendly to everyone he meets (he loves other dogs as much as he loves people).
He took some time to get potty training down, but, now, he's well trained at using the backyard only (our carpet is safe again!) He walks with the kids to school and the teachers and other kids love little Perkins. He graduated from puppy training at the local pet store and listens well to commands (most of the time), but he still has trouble not excitedly leaping on anyone who comes to visit.
He has become a special part of our family. We love Perky-baby.
We were so lucky to have the opportunity to adopt Perkins.
Thank you,
The Benton Family
Lilah's Happy Tail
As you can see, Lilah has adjusted very well. She is pictured above with Max and Molly. Everyone loves Lilah, family and friends. She has traveled to Tulsa to see her Human Brother and in June she will go on her first vacation to Colorado. We love her so much.
Thank you for allowing us to adopt her
Max, Molly, LaDona and Johnny
Chewie's Happy Tail
Hey guys! Just thought I'd chime in and let you know how life is with freddy now. Since the adoption two months ago, he has just blended right into our lives. At first, the only reason we picked him was to match the furniture, which admittedly, he does fantastically, but really - he has just wormed his way into our hearts and we could not be more thankful for bringing such a joy into our lives.
Every day when we get home from work, he's right there, at the end of the couch, just to say "hey. sup." He's so cool, so frisky, and on top of all of that, he's incredibly lovable. At first, we weren't sure that adopting him, considering he has FIV, was a good idea: that would limit the number of cats we could have later on... but honestly - Freddy is a one-cat sort of deal. you get all the cat you can handle out of this big guy. thanks again for all of your hospitality and support! we couldn't be happier!

Joie's Happy Tail
This is Joie (formerly named Foxy). I came across her picture from a friend of mine who lives in Enid. I had been looking to adopt for about a year but hadn’t found the “right one”. The minute I saw her picture, I was in love. I visited the Enid SPCA to spend some time with her and observe her behavior and personality. She was the sweetest, most calm puppy I had ever been around. A week later, Joie came home! It has been 9 months now since Joie’s adoption, and it has been quite memorable.
Some of Joie’s hobbies include the dog park (she is very social), going for walks, chasing her tennis ball, chewing on bones, and of course eating bugs! We completed a basic obedience course in November where she learned to sit, lay down and stay. She also got to do some agility exercises and we learned she was the fastest in the class, even beating the big dogs!
Two of Joie’s funniest characteristics are her ears, and her love for nuts. After about 2 months after her adoption one of her ears popped up while the other remained flat. It is the most peculiar thing, but so adorable!! Everyone remembers her because of her ears. I tell them it’s because she is half Chihuahua and half Dachshund and the line is directly down the middle of her head. She also loves to dig up pecans. She brings them in to show us, and then she cracks them open and eats the nut out of the shell. She hasn’t learned how to clean up the shell once she’s done yet. Maybe we’ll work on that!
Joie has been such a delight and I’m so grateful for the work of the Enid SPCA.
Thank you!
Alaina Newton
