Lily's Happy Tail

We adopted Lily from the Enid SPCA in the Fall of 2010. We had previously adopted a cat several years before and loved the experience. I had just left my career to be a full time stay at home Mom to our 18-month old daughter, Ruby, and I thought a dog would add a bit of security during the day when it was just us at home. Also Ruby absolutely LOVED dogs. Anytime we saw one in the neighborhood or out and about in town she just wanted to hug and love on them - no matter their size. When I first saw Lily she was still in quarantine as a new arrival. She just had the saddest face but she was was so calm and just sat there looking at me. They had her listed as a lab mix and seemed to be about medium-sized which was perfect for us. Lily was about 8 months old. We wanted a medium-sized dog that loved kids and could mostly stay indoors with us. When we first brought her home, Ruby couldn't pronounce the name Lily so she became "Puppa" - something we still call her. I can't tell you what a joy it has been to watch Lily and Ruby basically grow up together. Their relationship has grown into such a tight bond. That is Ruby's dog, through and through. Lily is incredibly protective of Ruby, and they also have a bit of a sibling dynamic. They rough-house and chase each other all over the house, play in the bathtub together, cuddle on the couch and watch cartoons, and play endless games of fetch and tag in the backyard. I can't describe the love between them - it is difficult to put into words. Watching them is hysterical and heartwarming. Lily can best be described as a gentle soul. We could kind of tell that she had been subjected to some sort of abuse before she was at the SPCA because training and discipline with her always resulted in cowering. At some point she had had a bad experience. We really had to get to know her personality before jumping into obedience training with her. Even now, we try not to worry too much about those things as her nature just does fit with following commands besides "sit" and being able to walk on a leash. We call her Princess Pup because she would rather be inside curled on your lap than anything. She loves having her paws massaged too. And we fully indulge her - she's a pampered pooch. This summer we participated in the MotoPhoto fundraiser for SPCA. They capture many adorable shots including ones with them both wearing tu-tus! At one point the photographer tried to get both of their heads down on the floor next to each other. Lily instead made a little huff and rested her head on Ruby's. The photographer snapped the photo and said "Wow. That was amazing." The photo ended up winning 3rd place in the MotoPhoto contest. This one photo perfectly encapsulates their relationship. Thank you Enid SPCA for the quality of your adoption program. We continue to be impressed and humbled by the work you do in the community, and we will always do whatever we can to support your organization. Thank you for our sweet Lily and the joy she brings to our home on a daily basis!

Katie's Happy Tail

Hello.  I adopted Katie (who you all called Kitty, aka Poods) approximately a year ago.  I have meant to send you an update before now, but hadn't gotten around to it.   I apologize.   We LOVE Katie SO much!  She has fit into our family perfectly and is the SWEETEST dog we've ever known!  There are five of us, my husband, me and our 3 kids.  Katie has been wonderful with the kids from the very start. They call her "Sister" most of the time.   When the weather is cool, Katie goes everywhere with us.  When it's hot or we can't take her for other reasons, she goes to Max and Elsies doggy daycare here in Edmond:)  She is very spoiled and VERY loved. Thank you for taking care of our baby until we could find her.  I hope you enjoy the pic.   ----Gina Scott

Captain Jack's Happy Tail

This is Captain Jack…You all knew our little one eyed friend as Kit Kat back in 2009 before we welcomed him into our home. From the day we visited him in the shelter, he has been nothing but loving. Our little Jack immediately bonded with the cat we had rescued the year before and a kitten we brought in a year later. He is the mediator between all kitty conflicts and always breaks up any kitty arguments. Jack still loves to jump into our arms and give us big hugs. He continues to be a joy in our lives from Oklahoma all the way over to Japan where we are now stationed.

Deano's Happy Tail

Hi my name is Dean Martin but I go by Deano. You know me as Sid. My new Mom and Dad thought I needed a name worthy of my tuxedo and I even wear a bow tie when company comes over. I was adopting January 19 by new Mommy and Daddy (Kristen and Daryn Vencl). I am so happy at my new home. I have a sister but she still isn’t a fan of me. She’s a cat named Stevie Nicks or Nicksy. I have lots of toys and get lots of treats. I’ve made so many new friends in the short time at my new home. I have a couple of girlfriends. One is a Yorkie named Mia Wallace and the other is chocolate lab named Sookie. I like to play ball with my dad and play with my squeaky lion and rhinoceros with my mom. Any toy that squeaks is my favorite! I love to snuggle and sleep in between Mom and Dad at night. Mom and Dad say they should rename me Merlot because I can be a whiner. I like to know where everyone is at all times. If Dad forgets to take me outside when he does yard work I whine until Mom lets out to help. I just thought I would give you an update on how I’m doing.

Paws and licks,
Deano

Lilly Mae and Lotta's Happy Tails

Hi, I’ve attached a photo of recently adopted Lilly Mae. She has moved in like she has always been here. She loves to be a lap cat. Lotta was too bashful for me to get a photo but she also loves to sit on a lap and be petted. They are adjusting remarkably well and Heather their roommate is slowly warming up to her new sisters. I’ll send a photo of Lotta soon. Thanks for 2 wonderful cats. We adore them.

Dakota's Happy Tail

We adopted Dakota in February and he has made the perfect addition to the family. He is extremely energetic and loves to be around people. He and our 2 daughters have lots of fun together and the first day home he showed how protective he is. He loves to play tug of war, and he finally started being vocal! What a deep growl and loud bark he has. He is afraid of thunder and gets under our covers when it storms. Dakota is the most loving animal we ever had in our home and consider it a privelege for him to be with us. Dakota has found his forever home with us. He is definately the best and perfect fit for us.

Squirt's Happy Tail

Hi, it's Squirt (you used to call me Peaches) ,

I just wanted to let you know that things are going great here. Me and Gunner are the best of friends...Josie doesn't like it when I pick on her...but she'll get used to me. Mom gets frustrated with me because I love to chew...but she's getting smarter, she went and bought these bones that I'll never be able to chew up...but I sure try. Mom's bed is sooo comfortable...and the backyard is awesome...me and Gunner chase birds for hours together...he even taught me how to climb his favorite tree.

Ok, well gotta go ...thank you for taking care of me. Squirt Smith

Gunner's Happy Tail

Hey guys,

This is Gunner. Just letting you know how things have been for me since I was adopted in November of 2011. I absolutely love my new family. We have a big back yard, lots of toys, and tons of treats. I love to sit and look out the front window when mom is at work...lots of people go by, and cats, and birds, and ...oh, well you get it. I am pretty much obsessed with the tree in the backyard where the birds land...I sit out there all the time trying to catch a bird...no luck yet, but I'm determined.Well...I guess I'll get back to running and hunting and being absolutely adorable. Thank you all for taking such good care of me.

Grouch's Happy Tail

Hello,

Just like to thank everyone at SPCA for having Grouch when I came. The first moment I set eyes on the little fella, it was a guaranteed adoption; especially after learning he was a stray. Knowing I could give him another chance at being loved, is a great feeling.  Ever since I picked him up in November, he's been a blessing and a great companion. Still teaching him where to go to the bathroom, but he's learning quickly. I couldn't be more thankful to be able to come home to Grouch from work and tossing a tennis ball for him to fetch.

Thanks for everything,
V/r,Sean Noble

Lil' Bit's Happy Tail

Thought I would drop you special people a note and let you know Lil' Bit (Wendy) is doing great!  As you can see from the picture (I hope it came through) she is not spoiled at all!  Thank you all for the work you do.  All our animals are from rescue.  We have a cat that we got from the vet clinic and my husband is the Chief of Police in a local town and he brought home a shepherd that we have since adopted as well!  Any way just wanted to let you know Lil' bit is doing wonderful and she brings joy to us everyday!

Bo's Happy Tail

This is Bowie (now called Bo). I adopted him after losing my companion of 12 years. Thought I’d never have another pet but he is THE BEST! He keeps me laughing and entertained. Not sure why he was abandoned but if I could thank the person who abandoned him I would. (after smacking him 1st of course)  Thank you for all the great things you do for the less fortunate animals. They all deserve a loving, forever home and Bo has found his. Hard to say who helped who the most.

Mittens' Happy Tail

Hi,
Remember me, Mittens #4333.  I was the "top cat" at the shelter for two years.

I was adopted one year ago as a Christmas present.  I love my new home.  Miss Dixie and Mr. Bob sure spoil me with love.  I have my own bed and lots of toys!  I hide my toys at night and see if they can find them in the morning, they need the exercise.  When they sit down in the evening to watch television I jump in their laps to be held or brushed.  I don't like to snuggle, just to be held on their laps.  I've been a good girl, anyway that's what my Christmas stocking says that's hanging by the fireplace.

Remind all the other residents to just keep purring and they'll find a new home some day too.

Merry Christmas to all
Mittens Stribley

Mittens' Happy Tail Update

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to send you an update and let you know my homelife is great!  I even have my own special "drinking fountain" with nice, cold, yummy water.  I need a little assistance turning it on, but my people are happy to help me with that.  Miss Dixie got out of her chair the other morning at breakfast and I just jumped right up in her place at the counter.  Mr. Bob told her, he thought she may have lost her spot.  It was funny.  We are all getting along purr-fectly and life is good.  Sometimes finding just the right home is worth the wait.

Sookie and Haley's Happy Tails

Here is the picture of our new kittens.  The black kitten's new name is Sookie (it was Reba) and the Siamese mix kitten is Haley (it was Frisky).  We took Sookie because she was so timid and we thought we could help with that.  It turned out that she is the dominate one and Haley is very laid back.  They play and eat a lot!  They love to sit on your lap and sleep.  At night, when we all go to bed, they sleep under the covers with us.  They are so cute! We are so happy to have them in our lives!  I will send you more photos as they get older.  We are always taking pics of them.

Sincerely,
Lisa Quirk

Duchess' Happy Tail

My husband showed me a picture of a dog online at the SPCA that needed adopted.  A German Sheppard that was a stray and was rescued.  I heard she was not in very good shape and didn't weigh very much and just has had a tough time.  I have always wanted a german sheppard ever since I was younger and was surprised when he showed me a picture of Duchess.  My kids and I went up to Spca a few times to visit her and she did so well with the kids and is very sweet.  We got to adopt her and brought her home, at first she was shy and wasn't so sure about being with us and was just cautious, and didn't really play much, but she did very well with our other animals.    We have had her for about a month and a half and she has opened up so much, she plays with toys, she likes playing with our other animals, she loves to act like she is digging a hole and when the dirt flies behind her she turns around and trys to catch it.  She lets us hug her and even give her kisses.  I'm very happy we adopted her and she is so happy herself.  We just all love her!

Rosey's Happy Tail

Our son has renamed Sheba, Rosey. It's short for Rosemary. Her big brother is Basil. We wanted to let you know she is loving her new home. She and her big brother run around the 5 acres, wrestle and take lots of naps together. She has also made friends with our kids' show lambs. She is well-mannered, friendly, happy, cuddly, fun and smart.

Bailey's Happy Tail

I have my own "fetching" video
check me out here

Hello! We just wanted to thank you so much for allowing us to give Bailey a loving home. She's such a sweet dog and has brought all the happiness back into our home. I thought I would go ahead and write you and send pictures as well (thought you might like to have pictures of a success story and I like to brag on her too).

We renamed Joanie “Bailey”.  She is just the most adorable puppy, and everyone says so, I mean everyone!  I can’t believe that someone would ever give her away!  We fell in love with her immediately!  She’s brought so much joy to our lives in such a short time.  Bailey’s been going to the dog park almost every day.  She loves it!  She gets to ride (sleeps mostly) in the car with us a lot.  She loves to go shopping too at Lowes, Home Depot, Atwoods, Pets Mart, Pet Co, Best Buy, JC Penney, etc. She loves to play in the backyard, and plow back through the doggy door.  It’s so cute because she slides across the tile because she’s going so fast.  She’s now potty trained.  She’s been to her regular veterinarian for her second round of shots, and she goes back for the third round this Thursday.

Thanks Jerry and Donna

Amy's Happy Tail

Amy would not leave Dylon’s side after his surgery.  He was laid up for a week and she stayed by his side the entire time.  Her favorite place is laying on Dylon…but I did finally get her to lay beside him.  She has her own little couch and I finally moved over by him…but if he made any noise she was up and checking on him.  Dyl and Amy love to play fetch and tug-a-war.  She will bring the ball or chew rope over to him when she wants to play.  To tell a funny story on them…Dyl was tired so he laid down and put the chew rope under him…Amy couldn’t get to it so she sat on his face…that was a good laugh for hours… The bond between the two is very strong.  I am so happy that we have Amy in our family.  She is very smart and her personality is just a joy to be around. She still likes to chew up my flip-flops…but I needed new ones anyways…lol.  Thank you so much for Amy.

Shiloh's Happy Tail

Shiloh was adopted May 11, 2011. I went ahead and kept his name Shiloh because it’s cute like him. Shiloh is one of the happiest puppies I have ever seen (doesn’t help that he is spoiled rotten)!! He now has two big brothers that he absolutely loves to be with, Billie and Snookz. Shiloh loves to ride in the car, is leash trained, potty trained, sits, responds to his name, plays fetch … Just a very beautiful and intelligent pup!! His mommy loves him very much and couldn’t ask for a better dog : )
Thanks, Caylie & ShiShi

Oscar's Happy Tail

Five years ago we lost our dog, Lucy and said we would not get another one!  That thought lasted two weeks.  SPCA was having a debut at the Enid mall and we decided to go.  We agreed that we would NOT get a dog that sheds, for sure.  Well, the first sight of Oscar, a 2 ½ year old shorty Jack Russell,  was him running through a large empty store with the sun shining down  and he was BLOWING HAIR big time!  They had just given him a bath and that’s what happens when you give him a bath.  We sat and talked to them and Oscar for an hour .  We enjoyed him so much.  We left and thought about it overnight.  The next day when we called to see if he was still available they said “Oh we were hoping you would call.”  And he has been the BEST dog ever and our FIRST indoor dog ever.  He goes rollerblading with us and takes walks with us, which we need desperately!  We never imagined  how much fun and how much joy Oscar would give.  And we don’t care about him shedding hair!
THANKS for all you do, Enid SPCA!

Ritz's Happy Tail

Luna's Happy Tail

Hello friends at the Enid SPCA. I just wanted to send you guys some photos of the canine formerly known as "Cinderella." Cinderella now goes by the name of Luna as is she is the shining moon in our night sky. When we first took Luna home, we could not fathom back then the impact she would have on our lives. This pup took our hearts and ran. She has come such a long way since we first brought her home and is thriving, happy and healthy. Being first time dog owners, and adopting this pup with a "history" has been challenging at times yet the rewards have been exponential. EVERYONE who meets here loves her, since she is a doll. She regularly visits the dog park and has many canine buddies to play with. Her feline sisters were not so thrilled with her arrival initially, but are warming up to her slowly but surely. She loves her kitty sisters and lets them do the own thing until they are ready to come around. We completed basic obedience school in February and are getting 1000 times better at walking on a leash, as we suspect she had never been accustomed to walking politely with humans in her past life. She recently took her first road trip to Carlsbad, NM to meet her human grandparents and uncle which was great. Luna has become a vital part of our little family and we realize the reason God brought us to Oklahoma was to pick up the missing member of our "pack." She is the love of our lives and now I understand what was meant on the bumper sticker that says, "Who rescued who?" I just want to sincerely thank you guys for everything you do and thank you for caring for this amazing girl, when she had no one else.

Joy's Happy Tail

Thank you for Joy.  She has been a real joy to all of us!  I am sending some pictures.

Bevo's Happy Tail

We adopted Bevo, formerly Bosco in December of 2010. We changed his name to fit our family of Texas alumni and fans. He was pretty shy the first 3 weeks, however he has opened up since and become very happy with his new home. He got his new car seat (picture attached) so that he could see out the window when his daddy takes him to the dog park, on rides around town and he has made several trips out of town to visit family.  We can't thank Enid SPCA enough for allowing us to adopt Bevo. He has filled all the voids we felt after losing our family pet of 17 years.
Sincerely, Norman and Kay

Scotch and Princess Pitty Sing's Happy Tail

SPCA staff,
I've intended to send you our "Happy Tail" for quite sometime now, and I've decided to take advantage of the snow day and email you.
We adopted "Pedro", now "Scotch" a year ago last Christmas. He was a tiny kitten then, and he has grown into a handsome, loving lap kitty. He has tons of personality! He uses his charm to get treats, and it is very difficult to say no to him. He is a big baby who wants to be on a lap, or curled up in a warm bed to cuddle. We can't imagine not having his loving presence in our home. I've sent two photos of him, one taken shortly after he came home with us, and a more recent one. He has grown quite a bit in a year!
Our other kitty we adopted in May of last year was named "Angel" there, and we named her Princess Pitty Sing. She was over a year old when she came home with us, and immediately took her place as queen in our home. Her sweet face and soft meow never failed to brighten my day. She didn't care to be held much, but when she decided to curl up on my lap it was always a pleasant surprise. She loved stickers and price tags, and would transport and deposit them into the closest water bowl she could find. She loved water. The first place we would look for her was the shower, and when she heard the water running, she would demand to be let in the bathroom so she could peek in the shower!
Princess became ill in December, and we found out she was born with a kidney problem. After every attempt to heal her, we lost our baby this January. Although we didn't have her very long, we have never regretted adopting her, and feel blessed for having her in our lives. Although this "tail" doesn't seem to have a happy ending, we loved Princess very much and miss her greatly. Her first name, "Angel" was very befitting to her. I wrote a little poem to keep with her photo, and I hope anyone who loses a pet could find comfort reading it.

May you curl up
in God’s lap
lie in a window that
always faces the sun
chase and bat
at angel’s wings
may you greet
all who come
 through Heaven’s door
I apologize for this being so long. I wanted to thank you all for the work that you do, and that our family is grateful for the "rescues" that we have adopted.
Sincerely,
The Swanner family -
Amy, Andy, LeeAnn & Sarah

Jack's Happy Tail

The day I wondered into your facility I was still morning him (Bubba) somewhat but knew I had to move on.  I looked at all the black cats you had as well as a few others that caught my eye, and then traveled to the back of the building and saw a few.  I then happened upon a 6 year old cat that I was told had been there a long time and that his age might have something to do with it.  I watched him for a bit, petted him, and looked deep into his beautiful blueish green eyes.  He almost appeared to be smiling.  I liked something about him as soon as he started to purrrrr.  After a short period of spending some time petting a lot of your cats I just couldn't make up my mind and decided to go home and think about it.  I could not get Jack off of my mind.  For several nights I tossed and turned thinking about whether or not I was ready for another cat to take the place of Bubba and another black cat to boot; however, I love black cats as they seem to be evenly tempered.  The next day I had made up my mind and none of the felines in your facility caught my attention the way that Jack did with those beautiful blueish green eyes and his purrrrrrrr.  The day I came to get him was interesting as when we got home he quickly made friends with my other cat Snickers and settled in as if he had been here all of his life.

The first few weeks were a battle back and forth over who could be in my arms or on my bed with me but finally they both quieted down.  I had Jack's front claws removed as he started clawing up my couch and a bad tooth looked at, but other than that he is a sweet, loving, cat who is always right beside me if Snickers is no where to be found.  Snickers is the matriarch of the household and occasionally establishes or reinforces that to Jack even though it doesn't really seem to sway Jack one way or the other.  He is a wonderful cat and I have grown very attached to him.

Because you called and checked up on him several times after I adopted him, I thought that I would relay this information to put your minds at ease as Jack is very happy, well adjusted and adorable and will have a home with me and Snickers as long as he is alive.  I have sent a few photos of him that were taken last week that I thought you might enjoy and have included a picture of his partner in crime Snickers (Calico).

Roxie's Happy Tail

Hi,
I just realized that I had never written a "Happy Tails" for Rosie, now named Roxie, that I adopted April 20, 2010.  Below is a letter to you from Roxie telling how she is doing and how she has grown.  She has adjusted beautifully and is a joy to have.  She has a sweet disposition and other than carrying off shoes, she does not chew them, just relocates them, we enjoy her so much.  Thanks for allowing me to come get her in April, she helped me through the grieving of losing my other dog "Sadie."  Hope your holidays were filled with love and joy.

Tootsie's Update

MERRY CHRISTMAS to my former caregivers!!!!!!  I really like living here with the Diels, till they wanted me to don this crazy hat!!!!!!
And this lady I live with is still trying to learn this computer, forgot to attach the pics on the first
email this morning, and she sent my pics last evening, and now in the "sent" file she can't find them!!!!  Oh My!
Tootsie

Tootsie's Happy Tail

Just a note to let you know that Tootsie is doing great!! We've not had a pet with such a wonderful personality, we've had lots of company of late and she likes everyone and everyone enjoys her company. I can hardly believe that the half cup of food daily could make a cat grow like she has.  She likes to go outside when we are out but if we come back indoors for a moment, she is immediately climbing the screen to come in.  We have a dog and they get along fine.  I feel sorry for the individual who had to give her up, but oooh so glad we adopted her.

Rowdy's Happy Tail

This is Rowdy (formerly Kang) the newest member of our family!  We adopted Rowdy in March of this year from the Enid SPCA.  I wanted to let you know what an absolutely wonderful addition to our family he has been.  From the beginning he has claimed Randy, my husband as his own.  The moment Randy comes home from work Rowdy demands his full attention.  He follows him where ever he goes and the moment he sits down, Rowdy is in his lap ready for Randy to pet him and play with him.  He is affectionate to both of us but Randy is who he truly prefers. He will come sit in my lap if I call him, but he never initiates it on his own. We have an older cat, Star, who is 13 years old, and she is very attached to me.  She spends most of her time in my lap, follows me from room to room and sleeps at the foot of the bed on my side, so Randy was delighted and a little surprised that Rowdy took such a shine to him.  He thought I was the cat person in the family!  Rowdy would like Star to be more playful and tries to entice her into games of chase or playing with the cat toys but Star doesn't have the energy Rowdy has.  They get along well though and sleep together at the foot of the bed now, Star on my side, Rowdy on Randy's side.  Since Star is too old to be much of a playmate, Randy got elected by Rowdy for that duty! He likes to sit in the windowsill behind the curtains and sneak up to the back of the couch behind Randy.  He bats Randy's ear with his tail and that is his signal its time to play!  He loves chasing a stuffed mouse on a ribbon, or anything else for that matter.  Sometimes he will be sitting in Randy's lap, quietly getting petted, and he suddenly jumps up, races to the bedroom, then races back to Randy's lap at full speed.  We thoroughly enjoy his antics and he has been such a delight.  I never dreamed he would become so much "Randy's cat" but that is what he is.  Randy is thrilled that Rowdy has chosen him and often teases me about Rowdy preferring him.  We are looking forward to many long years with Rowdy in our lives and want to thank the Enid SPCA for allowing us to adopt him.

Sincerely,
Jonnie Swinea

Phoebe's Happy Tail

Hi! My name is Alycia Lima and I adopted Phoebe Hope 2 months ago. I'm a student at OU and Phoebe lives with me and my three other roommates in our house. In addition to her, we have a kitten (Marley) and a chinchilla (Chinchie). Phoebe was a rescue dog and had an unfortunate past history. Her rescue story was in the Enid News & Eagle this past summer. I gave her the middle name "Hope" for more than the fact that she simply is a puppy full of hope. One of my favorite symbols is an anchor, which stands for hope. Phoebe has definitely become one of my best friends. She is full of energy and always gives me something to do. She has many dog friends and loves on anybody and everybody she meets. Phoebe lives for road trips! This past weekend we actually drove nine hours to St. Louis. She was in heaven. Phoebe loves to be pampered, and especially loves to get her hair and nails done. Her favorite color is of course pink. She is quite the prissy pup; she has adopted the nickname Princess Phoebe. She strongly dislikes getting her paws wet and is extremely scared of rain. One of our favorite pastimes is to go on jogs and to play with the tennis ball. Phoebe has become very good at walking on her hind legs to get her favorite treats. I am so thankful that she was safely rescued and found her home with me. Thank you to the SPCA from the bottom of my heart <3

PS I have pictures that will be sent within the next few days!

You can read more about Phoebe's story on our Rescue Puppies Page.  She is a real success story.

Tank's Happy Tail

Hello
We are the family that took Tank home.  He is working out wonderfully with our family.  He has settled down a bit and that is good; he needed to.  My boys are 43 (hubby), 21, 19 and 10 yrs old.  They all play with the dogs a lot.  I would say that my youngest plays the most because others are at school or working sometimes.  The dogs really benefit from this. The older boys will wrestle pretty hard with Tank and he loves it.  They actually wear him out sometimes (if you can believe that).  They also sometimes go for walks. I think he is very happy.  He LOVES to be outside and we had to find a way to do this for him.  He sits on a rug instead of the grass cause sometimes, it may be wet.  He doesn’t always stay on it which is fine.  Thank you for allowing us to adopt him, we have all fallen in love with him.
Sincerely
Theresa Peterson

I picked up Moxie from my friend in Norman about 12:30pm on Saturday.  Moxie and I got to know each other on the long drive home.  Her name is now Maggie Rose, and she is quite the diva!  She has had a haircut and is learning the ropes at our house from the other three dogs.  She is quite the character and keeps us laughing.  She is doing very well with her housebreaking and likes going in her crate (there are good treats in the crate).  She is running outside with my dogs now, but hasn't picked up on the art of chasing squirrels just yet.  She is quite the snuggler and follows me all over the house.  She has chewed the plug off my hair straightener, but it can be repaired.  She is a joy and I just wanted to let you know she is having a blast!

Abby's Happy Tail

My Husband and I adopted Portia (renamed Abby), around August 10th and she has been such a joy! I get so excited when I come home from work and she is so excited to see me. My husband often teases me that I greet her more enthusiastically than him. We are crate training her and that is working out really good. Occasionally, I will let her sleep with us at night because she is so warm and loves to cuddle up to us. She hops around the backyard like a rabbit and we get such a kick out of watching her! She hardly ever barks, except when she is trying to get the cat to jump off the table to play with her,so when she does it's hard to tell her no, because she sounds so cute! I've included a couple of pictures that we took the first week we had her home and then some current ones. I think I am a little biased about her because I included a lot of pictures. Hope you all enjoy them.

Josie's Happy Tail

Hi, I'm Josie. My mom adopted me in July '10 and I'm LOVING my new home. I have 2 older brothers, Duke and Prints, and they really take care of me...except when Duke tattletails on me for going potty in the house ;(...we play all the time in our big yard, lounge around on the couch, and sleep in moms bed...actually, we take up the whole thing...but it's ok..she doesn't seem to mind. I'm eating really well...I weigh in at a whopping 8 pounds now...I almost weigh as much as my brothers, I'll get there some day. I went to the vet and I am totally healthy...but I'm still a little scared of being abandoned...so it was traumatic for me.

I have alot of toys..and I tear them up every chance I get. I'm looking forward to Christmas...I can't wait to see what mom gets me....

Ok, so I sent some pictures along so you can see me at my best...I'll email again to let you know if I hit the big 1-0 (pounds that is).
Love, Josie

Stella's Happy Tail

Hi, we adopted Stella about 5 months ago. She is amazing, we could not have been happier. She is so gentle with our children (3 & 1) and has never attempted to be anything but loving to them!  She was so scared when we first got her and we loved on her until she came to know this is the only family she will ever have- this is her home. She plays well with other dogs now and is now very protective of myself and my children which is very good since my husband works a lot.

She does very well inside but we have noticed she is sometimes reluctant to come in the house since she has such a big yard to play in and she prefers sleeping outside on nice nights! We are thinking we may want to adopt another big dog about the same size, we want her to have a play mate her size.  Stella is the best dog we could have asked for, she is super smart and already knows quite a few tricks. She can sit, roll over, come to her name, and gives kisses & she is just all around the best fit for our family! She loves to go on walks with me and she walks very well beside my stroller (it was the hardest thing to teach her!) and now we will walk about 2 miles and she loves it!

I am so thankful that we were able to bring her home the day we met her, she is everything we wanted & I honestly can't imagine not having her. Our youngest daughter screams Ella! and Stella comes running. I once caught our oldest daughter taking a nap on Stella, they were cuddled up with a blanket! They love her so much! THANK YOU all for what you do because these dogs need a 2nd chance!

She is truly a blessing to our family. You will never know how much she means to us. She is more than words can express and no one can believe that we got her from a shelter since she is so loving and gentle. Thank you again!
Sincerely, Erin

Jada's Happy Tail

I adopted Jada about a month after my Pom Morgan died. I wanted a dog that looked and acted totally different than Morgan; and boy did I ever get it!!!  Jada is a bundle of energy, almost always on the go and wanting to play. I was worried about how she would interact with our other dog; a male Mini American Eskimo; but they are the best of friends!! He is 8 years old and she gets him to run around the yard with her like they are both young puppies!!! I love seeing that!!
Jada loves everyone she meets! She is a very loving dog and loves to give kisses. We cuddle together on the couch in the afternoons for a nap. She like to lay her head on my neck, or at least as close to it as she can get.
Jada is a wonderful addition to our family!!!!  We all love her so much!!!
Thank-you
Katrina

Stella's Happy Tail

Hello,
Stella has been home for about a month now, and we couldn't be happier with her. She gets along great with her new brothers Sam and Moe. She is really beginning to form her personality- and is quite the little Princess! She loves sleeping in bed with us at night- and knows what comes out of that treat jar now! She is a joy- and always keeps us laughing! Since we are an Air Force family- she is soon going to be a traveling pup! Who knows where we will go next! Here are a few pictures of her and her brother Sam!
Thank You, Enid SPCA, for letting us adopt her into our family!
Cheers,
Dallas, Megan, Sam,

Harley's Happy Tail

Hello my name is Harley! I am sure you remember me because I am just too sweet to forget.  My family adopted me in May of 2010. I have a brother and sister to play with every day and we are the best of friends. I like to hide my bowl in a new place every day so my family has to go on scavenger hunts just to feed me and I love burying all of my snacks. I have really personalized my yard, I enjoy lying under the bushes and in the mud, digging holes, walking through the neighborhood, helping Dad with BBQ’s and chasing frogs. I am sending you a few pictures to show you how much I have grown and just how  perfectly I fit in with my family! My pictures include:  The first week I was home; another day at the park; cuddling with Mommy; and hanging out in my yard. I love kissing!

Buster and Brando's Happy Tail

Hello,

We adopted Handsome Dan in July, and then Ludo soon after.  We changed their names to Buster and Brando.  They have made wonderful additions to our family.  As you can see, it didn't take them long to make themselves at home.  They are both full of energy, and they love to run and play.  We have a 5 year old son with special needs, and both dogs are very gentle and careful with him.  It was a pleasure visiting the Enid SPCA.  We're happy to be able to provide a loving home to these two lovable dogs.
